I decided to try planting peonies in the front border, by the road. Planted Victorie de la Marne, a magenta mid season rose shaped variety to the right of the driveway entrance.
Further up the hill, where the iris were blooming nicely I decided there was good sun and planted Paula Fay, a very early lotus shaped sharp pink variety 1988 gold medal uphill among them
, and Red Magic AKA Hei Hai Bo Tao, a dark red mid-late variety rose shaped variety just downhill.

Both still coming up late March-early April 2019. The one to the right of the driveway sent up a shoot but Jeff weedwacked it putting in mulch.
